This powerful showcase of 18 photographs by Francisco Alvarado-Juárez
captures pivotal moments from New York City’s early Pride marches in 1975 and
1976, offering an intimate look at the beginnings of the LGBTQ+ liberation
movement. Taking its name from the iconic chant “Out of the closets! Into the
streets!” heard during NYC’s 1875 and 1976 Marches, the exhibition features vivid
Kodachrome images that offer a striking visual record of the Christopher Street
Liberation Day March—the precursor to what we now celebrate as Pride.

HERE Arts Center (145 6th Ave, New York NY 10013)
The official theater event of NYC Pride, Criminal Queerness Festival (CQF)
showcases new plays by LGBTQ+ artists around the world from countries that
criminalize or censor queer communities. CQF amplifies artists who are willing to
risk it all – censorship, imprisonment, and violence – for simply sharing the truth.
This year's festival is a co-production with HERE Arts Center, with a lineup
including Jedidiah Mugarura's Tomorrow Never Came, Dena Igusti's What You
Are To Me, and Krystal Ortiz's frikiNation. www.nationalqueertheater.org
