A: It’s important to stand together as a community—by
staying united and speaking up, we create space where
everyone feels welcome, heard, and understood. In challenging times, we must continue to spread awareness,
celebrate joy out loud, and refuse to be silenced or discouraged. The only way forward is together, as one strong
and supportive force.
Mx. Ology
Q: What does Pride mean to you/How do you rise up?
A: Pride to me means not only honoring queer ancestors,
celebrating queer family, and championing queer futures,
but is the assertion that we deserve to live splashy, bold,
beautiful lives. I Rise Up through my work as a drag queen,
specifically a NASTY drag queen– because I find joy and
power in the subversive.
Pietra Parker
Q: What does Pride mean to you/How do you rise up?
A: Pride is about representation and a reminder that simply
existing as our authentic selves is a revolutionary act. I rise
up by using my voice and visibility to represent those who
are still silenced, scared or oppressed and to amplify queer
voices, immigrant stories and honor the ones who came
before us.

Q: What does Pride mean to you? NYC Pride’s
2025 theme is “Rise Up: Pride in Protest” — how
do you Rise Up?/How can people rise up during
these times?
A: What Pride means to me is speaking up for those
who never got a chance both in our present and past.
Defending one another and seeking safety in one’s own
community is what Pride is all about. Rising up can be
as simple as living your truth unapologetically. I think
it’s as simple as stepping outside and owning who
you’re meant to be; it’s a ripple effect, inspiring others
to do the same.
Temple Grandé
Q: What does Pride mean to you?/How do you
rise up?
A: Pride at the moment means being unabashedly
queer and as a drag queen I revel in being gay and
providing joy. Queer joy is a protest, and I believe
one of the best ways to rise up is to find the joy in
being queer and showing you are unafraid to be
visible.
Xana Whoria
Q: What does Pride mean to you?
A: Pride to me is not only a time to celebrate queer joy,
but to honor and continue the work of our trans elders
that fought so hard to get us to this point.
A: For me, Pride means the protection, liberation and
celebration of Queer and Trans People.
Q: NYC Pride’s 2025 theme is “Rise Up: Pride in
Protest” -- how can you Rise Up?
Q: How can people rise up during these times?
A: In this political climate it is important to stand up
for your trans community and advocate for our safety.
Support trans performers and highlight trans
community members too!point.
A: There’s great power in numbers. It’s about a communal fight for our existence and our history to not be
erased.
