CELEBRATE NYC PRIDE 2025:
On behalf of the entire NYC Pride Family and Executive Board, it is our honor to welcome you to
New York City!
As we gear up for NYC Pride 2025, our theme “Rise Up, Pride in Protest” resonates with profound urgency. This isn’t just a celebration; it’s a powerful call to action, recognizing that our fight for LGBTQIA+
equal rights is far from over.
We must rise together, with unified, unwavering, unbreakable voices! We are witnessing a critical
moment where the interconnectedness of our struggles is undeniable. Attacks on one part of our
community inevitably ripple outwards, impacting us all. It’s no longer enough to stand in solidarity.
Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and all allies who have privilege must speak up for those who are marginalized, especially our Transgender community who face increased scrutiny from those who seek to
erase them.
Allyship must embrace the entire LGBTQIA+ spectrum. When one of us is targeted, we are all vulnerable. The fight for trans rights is our fight. Attempts to dehumanize and erase trans individuals are
an affront to the very principles of equality and justice we champion. We must all stand shoulder to
shoulder, offering steadfast support and demanding the right to exist authentically, without fear.
When the rights and freedoms we hold dear are not guaranteed, the personal is undoubtedly political. For the LGBTQIA+ community, this reality is particularly stark. We are often on the front lines,
facing discriminatory legislation and rhetoric that seeks to diminish our humanity and roll back hardwon progress. It’s disheartening that we find ourselves once more having to fight battles we believed
were long won. This resurgence of resistance is not born out of choice, but out of necessity.
But protest isn’t monolithic. It encompasses not only marches and the signs we carry, but also the
very acts of living authentically, celebrating our identities, and demanding recognition and respect
in every space the LGBTQIA+ community occupies. We can protest in many ways. With our communal ideology, let’s take a stand for those in harm’s way now and in the future so we are a strong
force to be reckoned with against the authoritarianism of our current government.
